The original flag "Appeal To Heaven" was an early mark of the resistance towards the English crown, claiming trees over 24" in diameter, or over 150' tall to be used for building material mainly to make ships for the British fleet. As this flag was a prewar battle cry from the colonists to the crown. Watchmen of their time stood their ground, raised their flag and fought for what was right and just.
